According to the Code of Ethics of the United States National Association of Social Workers, social work is committed to five basic values:
  • Human dignity and worth
  • Social justice
  • Service to humanity
  • Integrity
  • Competence
Social work practice should promote respect for human dignity and pursue social justice, through service to humanity, integrity and competence.
