Social Work Library MetaSearch Tutorial
MetaSearch is a tool that enables you to search for journal articles in up to 8 databases simultaneously.
Accessing and Using MetaSearch
1. From the Social Work Library home page click Databases.

2. Then click UT Libraries MetaSearch.

3. On the MetaSearch page enter your UT NetID and password and then click Submit.

4. Now that you have logged in you will see Resource Locator on the left side of the screen. Scroll down through the Select a Category box. Click on Social Work/Sociology and then click GO.
5. You will then be presented with a list of databases that pertain to Social Work, Psychology, etc. By clicking on the plus sign (+), you will add a selected database to your Resource List.

The plus sign will change to a check mark, showing that these databases have been added to your Resource List.
After you have selected all the databases you want to add, you may either begin your search or return to the Resource Locator to pick another category.
6. On the right side of the screen, click on My Resource List. This will launch the custom list of databases you have built.

7. Enter your search terms, select the databases you what to search from your resource list by checking the box next to the database name, and then click Search.

8. Your search is now running. This process may take some time to complete depending on the search terms and number of databases selected.


9. When your search is complete you can click the magnifying glass icon to view your results.

10. Clicking on Find Text for an article in the results list will display a window that will provide links to the text of the article in electronic format.
